Company will donate bags, cups, straws, trash cans and paper windshield protectors, which will be distributed to visitors to the Boa Viagem beach
Pernambuco – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and sustainable solutions in paper packaging, has once again partnered with the Clean Beach project implemented by the Globo TV network at the Boa Viagem beach in Recife, Pernambuco. The Company will donate 510,000 bags, 17,000 trash cans, 40,000 straws, 160,000 KlaCup Bio cups and more than 5,000 windshield protectors to merchants and visitors to the beach. All items are made of paper, which underlines the sustainability nature of the action and raises awareness about proper disposal of waste and use of single-use products, which can be recycled and come from raw material from renewable sources.
The project will be implemented along the 8km stretch of the Boa Viagem beach from November 20 through mid-April 2023, always on Sundays and holidays. “Initiatives to raise environmental awareness and proper disposal of waste are very important, especially in high season, when more people go to beaches. Klabin supports the initiative and offers products made of paper that people use every day, encouraging beach visitors to reflect on sustainable habits and thus contributing to conscious consumption,” said Douglas Dalmasi, Executive Officer of the Packaging Business at Klabin.
Clean Beach is an initiative run by Globo in Pernambuco jointly with the municipal government of Recife through Emlurb, the municipal maintenance and urban cleaning agency. During the initiative, trained monitors will distribute the items and instruct the public about the correct disposal of waste. They will also give away identification bracelets to parents who wish to put them on their children to make locating them on the beach easier. Through Emlurb, recyclable waste will be taken to recycling cooperatives that work in partnership with the municipal government of Recife, where it will be disposed of correctly.
The products to be offered by Klabin, and other solutions developed by it, are produced from raw material derived from planted and certified forests and from recycled paper.
